Misconceptions of Recycling

BasicsofRecycling.png

With recycling, there's often misconceptions with what needs to be recycled and how to properly dispose of it. An example of this is with the wastebins that are in New York City that are color coded (green, blue, and black). Often, people think that certain metals can't be thrown away in those blue bins that are scattered around the city or that animal feces can be thrown out in the brown bins labeled as "Waste".

Basics of Recycling

With recycling, some major things to look out for are what items need to be recycled; for instance in the blue bins that are around New York City, the only things you can dispose of are plastic bottles, rigid plastic food containers and packaging, cleaning solution bottles, condiment containers, rigid plastic toys with batteries removed, empty aerosol cans and lids, metal cans, metal hangers, aluminum foil, glass bottles and jars. What is not excepted in those bins are plastic bags and food wrappers, styrofoam, and paper of any kind.
